Dieser privat gebundene Band enthält den Katalog von Alfred Smith und Company sowie den Stanley Gibbons Katalog - beide für das Jahr 1881 resp. 1882. Alfreds Smith-Katalog umfasst 185 Seiten, einschließlich Abbildungen, mit Stanley Gibbons 69 Seiten, wobei letztere nicht illustriert sind, aber mit Abbildungstafeln 5–7 nach dem 1. Nachtrag zur 3. Auflage (1882).
Der Buchinhalt ist für die Zeit (fast 140 Jahre) sehr gut erhalten, die Bindung ordentlich. Aber der Hardcovereinband ist ohne Titelprägung und fleckig. Es empfiehlt sich ein privat gestalteter Umschlag, dann ist dieses Buch eine sehenswerte Rarität.
Zum Alfred Smith-Catalog: Der Katalog mit ca. 1.700 Abbildungen erschien in dieser Form erstmals 1880, dieses Exemplar ist also die 2. (und letzte) Auflage. Ursprünglich erschien der Katalog broschiert.

This privately bound volume contains the Alfred Smith and Company catalogue and the Stanley Gibbons catalogue - both for 1881 and 1882 respectively. Alfred Smith's catalogue comprises 185 pages, including illustrations, with Stanley Gibbons 69 pages, the latter not illustrated, but with plates 5-7 after the 1st supplement to the 3rd edition (1882).
The book content is very well preserved for the time (almost 140 years), the binding neat. But the hardcover is without title embossing and stained. A privately designed cover is recommended, then this book is a worth seeing rarity.
